The second round of the Coupe de la Ligue, which is the French version of the League Cup, took place tonight with various Algerian footballers involved in the competition.
Clermont Foot won 2-0 against Paris FC, with goalkeeper Mehdi Jeannin keeping an impressive clean sheet away from home. On the other hand, this meant that fellow Algerian Julien Lopez was on the losing side, who played 90 minutes for Paris in centrsl midfied.
Haris Belkebla scored his penalty in the penalty shoot-out between Tours and Le Havre, after the game finished 0-0 in normal time. Zinedine Ferhat came on in the second half and also scored his penalty, but it was Tours who advance to the third round after winning 7-6 in the shoot-out.
In another match, Mourad Satli started for Red Star FC and played 62 minutes against Ajaccio. They also needed penalties to beat their opponents.
Finally, Karim Ziani scored for Orleans in their League Cup match vs Nancy in the 86th minute with a goal from 12 yards.
The match finished 2-2 and that game also went straight to penalties, with no extra-time being played in this round. Ziani, who was captaining his team, scored again in the penalty shoot-out, but they ended up losing 4-2 so they were also eliminated.
