Arsenal could make a late move for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, according to English newspaper the Daily Mirror.
The Foxes have reportedly bid £27million for Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend, as a potential replacement for the Algerian, paving the way for him to leave for Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger may be pushed into signing Mahrez even further by the potential departure of Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City.
Roma have shown a strong interest in the 2015/16 Premier League champion, but Craig Shakespeare has made it very clear that they value Riyad Mahrez at around £50million and have rejected three bids from the Serie A side already.
The Gunners have only made two signings this summer, but with two losses in their first three matches, the pressure is on the North London club to invest in this transfer market.
Mahrez handed in a transfer request earlier in the window, but has continued playing for Leicester and already has three assists in three Premier League games, including one at the Emirates on the opening night of the new season.
Fellow countryman Islam Slimani could also be departing the King Power Stadium, with Monaco set to make a bid if Kylian Mbappe leaves for PSG.
