Algeria manager Lucas Alcaraz has named an interesting squad with various new faces for Algeria’s upcoming World Cup qualifier vs Cameroon.
With both teams now unable to qualify for Russia 2018, this is a good opportunity for the Desert Foxes to test out some different players in a competitive fixture.
Riyad Mahrez, Nabil Bentaleb and Islam Slimani have all been left out the squad, but it is understood that they are being rested and will return to future squads.
USM Alger, who recently made the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League, have four players in the squad in the form of Chafai, Benguit, Meziane and Darfalou.
There is also a first call-up for Paradou goalkeeper Toufik Moussaoui and Setif defender Abdelkader Bedrane. MC Alger midfielder Sofiane Bendebka returns to the squad too after a long absence.
Carl Medjani and Adlene Guedioura have also not been selected, as expected with the two likely to now retire from international football.
Rais M.Bolhi will captain the squad once again, and experienced defenders Aissa Mandi and Faouzi Ghoulam remain in the 23-man squad.
Liassine Cadamuro, who is now playing in Ligue 2 with Nimes, has been recalled after impressing in the French second division, where he recently scored for the side.
