Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez is wanted by Manchester City, according to various sources. We understand that Pep Guardiola’s sudden interest in the 26-year-old is due to the long term injury suffered by Leroy Sane.
Although there is no issue with the wages, the two valuations between the clubs is some way off. Man City, who currently lead the Premier League table, are readying a £60million bid however Leicester City want £90million due to the interest being so close to deadline day.
Any bid placed that is less than £90million will not be accepted by the Foxes. On the other hand, Mahrez has made his intentions clear that if a big club bids for him then he would like to leave the King Power Stadium.
The Daily Telegraph report that it is unlikely Man City will bid such a high amount, but it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds. Any bid over £90million would make Riyad Mahrez the most expensive footballer in the history of the Premier League.
Mahrez has eight goals and seven assists this season for the Foxes, who currently sit 7th in the league. He was also a Premier League champion in 2016 where he also won the Player of the Season award, so there is no doubting his ability.
