Algerian winger Adam Ounas made the most of his opportunity for Napoli in the Europa League with a brilliant goal for the Italian league leaders against RB Leipzig.
The 21-year-old has been struggling for game time in Serie A, but proved tonight that he has got what it takes to start for Sarri’s side.
Ounas scored a fantastic goal, picking up the ball on the right-hand side of the box and finishing brilliantly into the bottom left corner of the net after 52 minutes.
With the second leg in just one week’s time, Ounas will be hoping to start once again when the Neapolitan outfit travel to East Germany. He came off in the 60th minute for midfielder Allan in a defensive switch.
However, two goals for RB Leipzig late on have put Napoli in a real dangerous position in the tie, with a 3-1 loss.
Napoli dropped into the Europa League after finishing third in their Champions League group, behind England’s Manchester City and Ukraine’s Shakhtar Donestk.
Elsewhere in the last 32 of the competition, Sofiane Hanni suffered a home defeat with Spartak Moscow against La Liga team Athletic Bilbao. The Algerian midfielder came on in the 75th minute for Denis Glushakov, but failed to make a real impact in their 3-1 defeat.
