Algerian pair Aissa Mandi and Ryad Boudebouz both started against La Liga champions Real Madrid tonight in Real Betis’ 5-3 loss.
Lucas Vazquez had a moment to forget, after Ryad Boudebouz poked the ball through his legs with some silky skills in the opening exchanges.
Real Madrid took the lead after just eleven minutes. Cristiano Ronaldo’s shot was beaten out by Betis goalkeeper Adan, but only as far as Marco Asensio who finished superbly from the rebound.
Aissa Mandi then went close to an equaliser. He headed Joaquin’s corner just wide of the Madrid goal after 20 minutes of the game.
But in the 34th minute, Mandi made his header count this time as he headed fantastically with a bullet header into the back of the net and scored from a brilliant ball in by Joaquin. Minutes later, the hosts were in front after an own goal by Nacho Fernandez.
Real Madrid started the second half well, and there was another defender on the score-sheet as Sergio Ramos equalised after 51 minutes. On the hour mark, Zinedine Zidane’s team restored their lead as Dani Carvajal played in Asensio for his second goal of the game and Real Madrid’s 6,000th goal of all time.
Cristiano Ronaldo then put the game out of sight. Boudebouz showed a great range of dribbling and passing throughout the match against such top opposition. A great experience for both Algerians.
Sergio Leon came on late to pull a goal back for Betis, but another substituted killed the game as Karim Benzema scored in the 92 minute.
