Algerian striker Islam Slimani has been named in the team of the tournament for the 2017/18 English League Cup, thanks to his brilliant performances throughout the competition.
He scored four goals in three matches, and has been named in the Best XI in a team that also includes some of the world’s footballing superstars such as Sergio Aguero and Eden Hazard.
Prior to the final, no player had scored more goals in the competition than the 29-year-old who scored in three different rounds when he was at Leicester City.
Slimani scored two goals against Sheffield United and one goal against Leeds United, who are both in the Championship.
However, his best goal for sure was his thunderous strike with his left foot from outside the box against Premier League side Liverpool, to knock them out of the competition.
The Best XI was named as the tournament comes to a close this weekend, and Slimani should be very proud to have made it into a side boasts some real star quality.
