Roma are very keen on signing Algerian defender Aissa Mandi next summer, according to Italian media outlet La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
Mandi joined Real Betis two years ago from Reims in France, and is now a key figure for the La Liga side. The central defender has helped the Andalucians fight for the European places this season, and scored against Champions League winners Real Madrid last month.
With a contract running until summer 2021, Roma will have to pay a decent sum of money if they want to land the 26-year-old. Their football director Monchi is said to be pressing for the move to bring the Algerian to Italy.
Playing as a centre-back or a right-back, Mandi is a very versatile player that can feature in a variety of positions across the defence. Roma have proved to be a great club over the past two years for players to improve their career, as shown by the likes of Mohamed Salah and Antonio Rudiger.
Mandi will most certainly be in the upcoming Algeria squad for the matches against Iran and Tanzania. and is very likely to be starting for the Desert Foxes.
Roma were interested in signing fellow Algerian Riyad Mahrez last summer, but the move never materialised.
