Ishak Belfodil is being linked with a move to Bundesliga side Schalke, according to German media outlet Bild.
The 26-year-old, who is currently on loan in the German league at Werder Bremen from Standard Liege, has scored six goals this season in all competitions.
According to the report, Schalke manager Tedesco is keen on the Algerian due to his athleticism and all-round ability. He has scored 4 goals and made 13 starts in the Bundesliga this campaign.
Schalke finished 2nd in the league, behind Bayern Munich, and have qualified for the group stage of next season’s Champions League.
They already have one Algerian footballer in their squad, namely central midfielder Nabil Bentaleb, which could have some weight on the potential transfer.
Hoffenheim have also been linked with Belfodil, but Schalke are said to be the favourites to sign the Algerian international forward.
Born in Mostaganem, Belfodil came through the academy system in Lyon before making a move to Italy where he was signed by Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan.
He has two goals in 14 appearances for the Algerian national team, scoring twice in a win against Oman. We hope to see Belfodil make a return with Les Verts as a reward for his improved form this year.
