Manchester City are hoping to conclude a deal for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez this week, according to English newspaper the Daily Mail.
Negotiations between the two clubs are reportedly continuing but it is hoped that a £75million deal is agreed over the next seven days or so.
The forthcoming conclusion is said to be positive, which means Mahrez could become a Man City player as early as next week as Guardiola looks to land his number one transfer target of the summer.
As the 27-year-old is not taking part in the World Cup this summer because Algeria did not qualify, Man City are relaxed and happy to get a deal done in due course.
Patrick Roberts is expected to move in the opposite direction, although is a separate deal to the pay package being agreed for Mahrez. Guardiola also wants to sign Jorginho from Napoli.
Mahrez scored more goals in the Premier League last season than Leroy Sane, Kevin de Bruyne and Bernardo Silva despite playing for a far worse side.
He has won the Championship and the Premier League with the Foxes, and is now set to take part in the Champions League next season for his new club.
