Algeria vs Cape Verde: Preview

Algeria return to footballing action on Friday 1st June, as they host Cape Verde in an international friendly at the Stade du 5 Juillet.

Kick-off is at 10.15pm, and the reason for the late start is due to the players breaking their fast. Rabah Madjer picked a squad of 24 players to choose from.

Faouzi Chaouchi is likely to start in goal after Rais M’Bolhi pulled out of the squad. Rafik Halliche is out due to an injury problem, and Hilal Soudani has only taken part in light training. Salim Boukhanchouche also has a knock.

Algeria have never lost to Cape Verde in their entire history, winning two matches and drawing two matches in the four meetings between the two sides.

The match will be broadcast on Algerian television channel ENTV, or you can follow it live on the DZ Football Twitter feed with updates throughout the game.

Despite these statistics, Algeria are currently below Cape Verde in the FIFA World Rankings. The Desert Foxes have lost two games in a row, suffering defeats against Saudi Arabia and Iran.

The stadium is expected to be half empty, with fans likely to express their views on the manager throughout the game. We hope you can join us for the match.
