Portugal ready to host Algeria on Thursday
Algeria take on Portugal in an international friendly at the Estadio da Luz on Thursday 7th June, with kick-off at 8.15pm.
The match, which is taking place in Benfica’s stadium, sees the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo come up against the Desert Foxes. Algeria have never beaten Portugal in their entire history.
There are several channels showing the match. ENTV will broadcast in Algeria, Bein Sports 3 will broadcast in France, Fox Sports 4 will show it in the USA and we will live tweet the match in English.
Algeria flew to Lisbon on Tuesday and have completed training sessions in the Portuguese national stadium. There is huge pressure on manager Rabah Madjer, who has lost three matches in a row and this could be his final game in charge.
Portugal last faced Algeria at the 2016 Olympics in which the game ended 1-1 in Brazil, and Baghdad Bounedjah started in that game. This is Algeria’s final match before they play Gambia in an AFCON qualifier.
Yacine Brahimi, Hilal Soudani and Islam Slimani have all scored in Portugal at some point in their club career so they have good experience at this level, but the Algeria defence is very questionable. The players are likely to be fasting.
