Newly-appointed manager of OGC Nice, Patrick Vieira, wants to make Ismael Bennacer his first signing at the club according to Corriere dello Sport.
Bennacer joined Serie B side Empoli after leaving Arsenal and helped the team achieve promotion to the top flight of Italian football this season as they were crowned champions.
The 20-year-old has scored two goals and provided four assists in 39 matches from central midfield for Empoli, showing that he was a key part of the team that went up to Serie A.
Nice would certainly be a huge step up for the youngster, and this move could improve his game to a whole new level with a higher calibre of players around him. Sampdoria and Galatasaray have also been linked with the Algerian international.
He recently made a substitute appearance for the Algerian national team in a 3-2 friendly loss at home to Cape Verde. Arsenal reportedly still have a buy back clause option in the contract, and can bring him back to the Premier League if they wish to although this is unlikely.
OGCN finished 8th in Ligue 1 last season, narrowly missing out on qualifying for the Europa League. They have fellow Algerian Said Benrahma in their ranks.
