Riyad Mahrez’s proposed move to Premier League champions Man City could be off again, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The 27-year-old, who Leicester were unwilling to let go in January, is currently the subject of negotiations between them and Manchester City.
Patrick Roberts was expected to be a part of the transfer, but the signing of James Maddison now means Roberts is no longer a part of any deal.
Leicester City demanded £95million for the Algerian international at the start of the calendar year, and Guardiola’s team refused to meet the demands.
And now a similar situation is brewing, with Man City unwilling to meet the £75million that the Foxes now want.
Man City have never paid more than £57million for a player, and Aymeric Laporte is their current record transfer fee. Mahrez is currently enjoying a holiday with his family.
Furthermore, the Citizens have even reportedly starting scouting other potential winger options if a deal for Mahrez never materialises.
Riyad Mahrez would be the most expensive Algerian, Arab and African footballer of all time if a deal goes through. He helped the Foxes to the Premier League title in the 2015/16 season. Only time will tell how the situation unfolds.
