Algerian international midfielder Ismael Bennacer is a target for Sampdoria this summer despite interest from Galatasaray, according to Italian media outlet Sampdoria News.
Bennacer joined Serie B side Empoli after leaving Arsenal and helped the team achieve promotion to the top flight of Italian football this season as they were crowned champions.
The 20-year-old has scored two goals and provided four assists in 39 matches from central midfield for Empoli, showing that he was a key part of the team that went up to Serie A.
Sampdoria would certainly be a huge step up for the youngster, and this move could improve his game to a whole new level with a higher calibre of players around him.
He recently started for the Algerian national team in their 2-0 loss to Saudi Arabia, but was widely considered as the best player on the pitch despite the disappointing defeat.
Arsenal reportedly still have a buy back clause option in the contract, and can bring him back to the Premier League if they wish to although this is unlikely.
Whether Bennacer stays at Empoli or moves to Sampdoria, he will be playing football either way in Serie A next season which we look forward to seeing.
