Kylian Mbappe is in advanced talks with the Algerian football federation with regards to visiting the country this year, according to Observe Algerie.
The 19-year-old, who has an Algerian mother, recently won the World Cup after scoring in the 4-2 win against Croatia.
And the Algerian FA, who did a similar thing a few years ago when Zinedine Zidane won the World Cup then came to visit, say that Mbappe will be visiting very soon.
Mbappe’s mother Fayza Lamari is very close to him, and the Paris Saint-Germain forward said last year that he is very proud of his Algerian origins. She also claimed that she did all she could to convince him to play for the Desert Foxes.
He is one of many footballers of Algerian heritage to play for France at international level. Nabil Fekir, who was also in the World Cup winning squad, is another example.
Whilst it will have no effect on the national team, it is nice to see Mbappe acknowledge his roots and take the time to visit the country.
Mbappe was named as the Young Player of the Tournament after scoring in several matches at Russia 2018. He is tipped to be the best player in the world one day.
