Oussama Darfalou comes from a small village in Batna, but first made a name for himself domestically when he scored 12 league goals in the top tier of Algerian football for RC Arbaa.
His top form at a young age brought about a move to giants USM Alger. At first it was a loan move, but then it was made permanent.
2017/18 saw him hit some huge numbers. The top scorer in the entire Algerian top division, the 24-year-old striker netted 24 goals in all competitions including 6 in the African Champions League. This also included scoring in the Algiers derby against MC Alger after just 40 seconds.
June 2018 saw his deal with USMA expire, and European clubs were keeping tabs. Hamburg were linked, but Dutch side Vitesse went on to snap him up on a free transfer.
Within the space of a year, Darfalou had found himself moving from the Algerian League to the Europa League which is quite a remarkable story.
He has been given the number 13 shirt for the team in Holland as he now looks to establish himself on the European stage. Now let’s see if he can deliver at a higher level too and assert himself as Algeria’s number one forward.
