La Liga side Villarreal are interested in signing Algerian midfielder Ryad Boudebouz from Real Betis, according to Spanish media outlet Jugones de La Sexta.
Boudebouz, who was once on trial at Manchester United, has helped Real Betis achieve Europa League qualification are a successful first campaign in Spain. A move to Villarreal would keep the player in Europa League football.
The move to Andalucia was the first time that Boudebouz played his football outside of France, and saw him link up with international team-mate Aissa Mandi.
Boudebouz is renowned for his brilliant delivery from set pieces, often either scoring or assisting from free-kicks and corners.
He has two goals in 24 appearances for the Algerian national team, and went to the World Cup in 2010, but has been unfairly frozen out of the squad for the last couple of years.
It would be an interesting move to say the least, with Villarreal on the same level as Real Betis. Boudebouz is also expected to be named in Djamel Belmadi’s first squad as Algeria manager.
The window is still open for transfers in the Spanish league until the end of August. Follow all the Algerian football transfers this summer on DZ Football.
