Scottish Championship side Dundee United have agreed a deal to sign MC Alger defender Rachid Bouhenna, we can confirm.
The 27-year-old central defender, who was once at Doncaster Rovers, has been at MC Alger since the summer of 2015. As he has played in the United Kingdom previously, he should not suffer from any problems with work permits.
He has never been capped for the Algerian national team, and stands at 6ft 3in tall. He has made appearances for the North Africans at U23 level however.
Karim Kerkar is the only other footballer from Algeria to play for Dundee United, and that was over ten years ago.
In recent years, we have seen Algerian defenders such as Madjid Bougherra and Ismael Bouzid take their game to Scotland.
Dundee United are currently in the second tier of Scottish football, and have had North African defenders before such as Bilel Mohsni.
Bouhenna, who plays as a central defender, has already featured once this season in the Algerian League for MC Alger. Follow all the Algerian transfers this summer on DZ Football.
In the Scottish Championship so far, Dundee Utd are in third place as they push for promotion back to the Scottish Premier League.
