Turkish giants Fenerbahce have made a late bid for Yassine Benzia of Lille. The 23-year-old, who can also play as a striker, came through the academy system at Lyon before moving to fellow Ligue 1 club Lille. He captained them last season and helped the French side stay up, and created five assists for his team.
Benzia has one goal in two appearances for the Algerian national team, and Fenerbahce have made an offer to Lille. They have already signed one Algerian international this summer, loaning forward Islam Slimani from Leicester City.
French team Bordeaux have also shown an interest in the player, who has scored nine league goals in the last three seasons. Benzia has not been called up to the Algeria squad since 2016.
Other players from Algeria that currently play in Turkey include Sofiane Feghouli from Galatasaray, Carl Medjani from Sivasspor and striker Nabil Ghilas of Goztepe. He would be the second Algerian to ever play for Fener.
With time running in the transfer window, it will be touch and go whether or not this deal is completed in time. Benzia is said to be considering the offer as we speak. Follow the transfers of all Algerian footballers with DZ Football.
