MC Alger’s captain Abderrahmane Hachoud was stabbed and several other players were injured following a brutal attack by CABB Arreidj supporters in the Algerian League.
Hachoud, who is the captain, led his team to a 1-0 away win on Saturday afternoon to send Mouloudia into the top three in the table.
However, after the final whistle several of the home fans invaded the pitch and started attacking the MC Alger players with various weapons that they had smuggled into the stadium.
30-year-old Hachoud was taken to hospital after the game but there was no police, security or ambulances in sight following the match. His own away fans helped him to the ground and assisted him after the game.
The incident marks another torrid day in the Algerian League calendar, with a Football Federation that do not care about the state of the game and are power hungry. Zetchi, the FA President, has yet to comment on the matter as his disastrous reign continues to belittle Algerian football.
One team in the league this season, CR Belouizdad, have already had points deducted and a similar punishment will be expected for CABB Arreidj. Three years ago, the top scorer in the division was murdered after a game.
