Algeria beat Togo 4-1 away in Lome to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, thanks to a brace from Mahrez and a goal from Attal and Bounedjah.
Riyad Mahrez opened the scoring after 15 minutes for his first goal for Algeria since January 2017. The Man City winger picked up the ball on the right-hand side and hit it first time, looping over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
And the North African side doubled their lead in the 28th minute. Youcef Attal with a brilliant solo goal. The Algeria right-back darted forwards, skipping past the Togo team before going all the way and cutting inside and finishing superbly past the goalkeeper.
As the clock hit half an hour, Mahrez scored his second goal and Algeria’s third of the afternoon. Mahrez scored using his right foot and powered the ball emphatically into the back of the net.
Togo pulled a goal back at the start of the second half from a corner after bad marking by substitute Aymen Abdellaoui, but it was ultimately a consolation for the hosts. Baghdad Bounedjah sealed the win late on in added time.
The result means that Algeria remain top of their group on 10 points and qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations next summer in Cameroon.
