Championship side Aston Villa are interested in signing Islam Slimani. according to Ajansspor.
Slimani, who is now 30 years old, is currently on loan at Fenerbahce in Turkey from Premier League side Leicester City. However, he has scored just one league goal in the Super Lig and the Istanbul side currently sit in the relegation zone.
Villa have also been linked with fellow Algerian forward Mohamed Belkheir this window. Slimani could be viewed as a potential replacement for Tammy Abraham in future.
However, for any deal to go ahead, Fenerbahce have to agree to terminate the loan deal with the Foxes in order for him to return to his parent club. Dean Smith has already signed one Algerian this season, bringing Said Benrahma to Brentford back in the summer.
Aston Villa are currently 12th in the table as they look to fight for promotion to the Premier League. Slimani is in search for regular playing time ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in the summer.
Several Algerians, such as Benrahma, currently play in the Championship. Hilal Soudani and Adlene Guedioura are both at Nottingham Forest for example. Follow DZ Football for all the latest Algerian transfers in English.
