Premier League side Southampton have registered an interest in Algerian striker Islam Slimani, according to the Aydin Post.

Several clubs have been linked with the forward, such as Sporting, Aston Villa and Celtic, with Slimani unwanted by the fans at Fenerbahce.
Current Algeria manager Djamel Belmadi used to play for the Saints, whilst fellow Algerian Saphir Taider also signed at St Mary’s however never made an appearance for the club.
Southampton are looking to stay up in the Premier League, after having a difficult start to the campaign under Mark Hughes. Slimani is renowned for his heading ability, making him one of the best in the air in world football.
Slimani went on loan to Newcastle in January last year but failed to score a goal under Rafa Benitez. He still has a point to prove in English football.
