Algerian midfielder Ryad Boudebouz is now in talks to sign for Celta Vigo, according to French media outlet Foot Mercato. It will be a loan move with an option to buy in the summer.
Betis are also reportedly looking to bring in Algerian striker Islam Slimani. The 28-year-old’s best season was arguably for Montpellier where he recorded double figures for both goals and assists.
Boudebouz was close to joining fellow Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice as well as Toulouse, but a loan move fell through earlier on in the window. Huddersfield were also linked whilst Bursaspor also made an approach, but the 28-year-old did not want to move to Turkey. Boudebouz played against England for Algeria back in the 2010 World Cup. He also once had a trial at Manchester United. but has never played outside of France or Spain. This move would see him remain in La Liga.
Boudebouz has struggled for game time in La Liga this season, and is looking to move on to try and secure a place in the Algeria squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations under manager Djamel Belmadi. Follow all the Algerian football transfers in English on deadline day with our dedicated live blog.
