Napoli have made a £10.5million offer for Empoli midfielder Ismael Bennacer but Arsenal can jump in if they wish to, according to Di Marzio.
The Algerian international left Arsenal in summer 2017 for Serie B, where he helped the Italian side gain promotion to the top tier of Italian football.
However, the Gunners have first refusal on any deal as we reported to you previously. This means they can sign Bennacer for the same fee if they wish to do so. If not, they will receive 30% of any fee paid for the central midfielder.
The 21-year-old has played four times for the Algerian national team and will be looking to be a part of the squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Empoli are currently in a relegation battle, whilst Napoli are in the last 32 of the Europa League after a narrow Champions League group stage exit earlier in the season. Bennacer has made great progress at a young age since coming through the academy at Arles in France.
There are already two Algerian players at Napoli in the form of defender Faouzi Ghoulam and winger Adam Ounas. Follow all the Algerian deals in English on deadline day with our dedicated live blog.
