Algerian international striker Islam Slimani is a target for Greek powerhouses Olympiacos, according to media outlet SDNA.
Slimani has been having a torrid time in Turkey, where he is on loan at Fenerbahce from Premier League side Leicester City. Fenerbahce have been in a relegation battle in the Turkish Super Lig, with the 30-year-old scoring one league goal all season.
He was very close to joining Real Betis on transfer deadline day back in January, but the move fell through due to no personal terms being agreed. It is unclear whether or not Slimani will be in Brendan Rodgers’ managerial plans with the Foxes.
Greek champions Olympiacos, managed by Pedro Martins, were in this season’s UEFA Europa League as was Islam Slimani with Fener. However, they are currently losing the Greek league title to PAOK.
Olympiacos were reportedly keen on the striker last summer, but he opted to move to Turkey instead. Slimani has not even been in the squad for the Istanbul side in recent weeks, which is a worry ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Islam Slimani’s deal with Leicester City expires in the summer of 2021. Follow all the Algerian football transfer news in English with DZ Football.
