CS Constantine lost 3-2 at home to Esperance Tunis in the first leg of their CAF Champions League quarter-final in front of a sold out Mohamed Hamlaoui Stadium this evening.
The Algerians got off to a bad start. Youcef Belaili, who actually plays for Algeria, scored a penalty in the 6th minute to give thee visitors an early lead.
And after the half-time whistle, they doubled it through Coulibaly in the 46th minute as things went from bad to worse for CSC.
However, just one minute later the hosts were right back in it with a fantastic goal. A lovely first time strike by Djabout after good build-up play by Benayada and Belkheir got Constantine right back in it.
In the 71st minute, the Algerians drew level against the reigning African champions. Benayada was involved in the build-up once again. His corner was met by the head of Nassim Yattou to level the game at 2-2.
Esperance got their noses in front once again though. Yaakoubi with another headed goal and that is how the game ended with the winning goal coming in the 74th minute.
At the end of the game, CSC’s goalkeeper Rahmani was forced off with an injury and went straight to hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery.
