Africa Cup of Nations 2019: Group A Preview

There are just a few weeks to go until AFCON 2019, with 24 teams for the first time. Group A of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations consists of Egypt, DR Congo, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

Egypt: The hosts are looking to win the competition and are one of the hot favourites to do so. With star man Mohamed Salah in their ranks, the Pharaohs should be making the final on home soil.

DR Congo: With the likes of Cedric Bakambu and Yannick Bolasie, DRC certainly have the quality to have a real go in this tournament. They reached the quarter-finals two years ago in Gabon.

Uganda: After qualifying twice in a row, Uganda will be looking to advance as a third place team this time as per the new rules. Dennis Onyango is arguably the best goalkeeper in Africa, and he will have to be at this very best if the Cranes are to stand a chance.

Zimbabwe: Zimbabwe managed to draw with Algeria in the group phase of AFCON 2019, and will also be battling for a place in the last 16 with the likes of Knowledge Musona who was one of the top scorers in qualifying.

Predictions: 1st – Egypt, 2nd – DR Congo, 3rd – Zimbabwe, 4th – Uganda
