Algerian striker Islam Slimani is set to rejoin his former club Sporting, according to Portuguese media outlet O Jogo.
Slimani recently spent a season on loan at Fenerbahce in Turkey, where he scored just one goal in the Turkish Super Lig.
Leicester City will reportedly loan Slimani to his old club Sporting, who play in Portugal, for the 2019/20 season.
But for the deal to go through, Sporting will need to offload fellow forward Bas Dost who has been linked with a move to Sevilla in La Liga.
The 30-year-old spent three seasons at Sporting between 2013 and 2016 having signed from CR Belouizdad across the Mediterranean. He started his career at JSM Cheraga.
However, the forward who is renowned for his heading ability has been named in Algeria’s squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. He will have a busy summer ahead before securing his club future.
It is unknown whether or not Slimani will be in the plans of new manager Brendan Rodgers, who will have to assess the various players returning on loan at the King Power Stadium.
Slimani enjoyed great success in Lisbon, where he scored 31 goals in a single campaign for Sporting. Follow all the Algerian football transfers in English this summer with DZ Football.
