Algeria will play their first game of the summer in preparation for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations against Burundi on Tuesday 11th June at the Jassam Bin Hamad Stadium in Qatar, with kick-off at 7pm (UK and Algeria time).
Djamel Belmadi has no injury concerns for the match, where he can use up to 17 players from his 23 man squad. The likes of Riyad Mahrez and Yacine Brahimi will be put to the test. Algeria will be using this game as a test for their Group C opponents Kenya and Tanzania, who are both from the East of Africa.
It is just the fifth meeting between the two sides of all time and the first meeting since 2001. In the previous four meetings, the Desert Foxes have never lost. Saido Berahino will be the main threat for Burundi, who also have a forward that plays in the Algerian League in the form of JS Kabylie striker Razak Fiston.
Baghdad Bounedjah will be feeling at home, with the match taking place in Al Sadd’s stadium which is his club. Algeria arrived in Doha on Saturday evening after spending a week training in Algiers. You can follow the game in English with DZ Football.
