Algeria will take on Guinea in the last 16 of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday 7th July at the June 30 Stadium in Cairo, with kick-off commencing at 8pm. The winner will advance to the quarter-finals.
The two sides last met back in the summer of 2017, where goals from Sofiane Hanni and Hilal Soudani secured a win in Blida in a 2-1 victory. Both of these players are not in the squad in Egypt. Riyad Mahrez will captain Algeria once again in the last 16.
Yacine Brahimi, who has been linked with a move to Premier League side Arsenal, was the only player absent from training. He is suffering with a minor injury knock which kept him out of the game against Tanzania.
Guinea have injury problems themselves, with Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita struggling to reach full match fitness. Algeria manager Djamel Belmadi is expected to revert to the same side that saw off Kenya and Senegal at the start of the competition.
Adam Ounas is the only real candidate that could push into the main side. The winners will face either Ivory Coast or Mali in the next round. Follow the Algerian national team in English at AFCON 2019 with DZ Football this summer.
