The Algerian national team are in talks with Belgium for a potential international friendly match, according to Eurosport.
Djamel Belmadi’s side are looking for a top level friendly opponent for March 2020 as there is a slot for a friendly before or after the first round of FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Algeria have also been in negotiations with Italy, but any potential game would depend on the location of Algeria’s match that kick starts their road to Qatar 2022.
Belgium faced Algeria at the World Cup in Brazil back in 2014 in the group phase. Algeria led thanks to a penalty from Sofiane Feghouli but ultimately lost the game 2-1.
The game would take place in Lille, which is where Algeria recently defeated Colombia 3-0. Lille is very close to Belgium geographically so the crowd would be a lot more mixed. Algeria have not faced a European side since losing 3-0 to Portugal in Lisbon under Rabah Madjer back in summer 2018.
Algeria have not lose a game since October 2018. Follow all the Algerian football news in English with DZ Football.
