Baghdad Bounedjah and Al Sadd begin their quest for global glory as they take on Hienghene Sport in the opening match of the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup.
Bounedjah has already won several pieces of silverware in 2019, including the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations with Algeria.
The Algerian striker will be feeling right at home with the encounter taking place in his own stadium where he is used to scoring goals week in week out.
A win for either side will setup a match in the next round against Mexican side Monterrey. The likes of Liverpool and Flamengo are also in the competition.
Al Sadd are managed by Barcelona legend Xavi, who used to play for the club himself. Hienghene of New Caledonia even took part in this season’s French Cup, but were eliminated against an amateur side.
Algerian ref Mustapha Ghorbal will be taking charge of the game. Follow all the Algerian football news in English with DZ Football.
