West Ham send scouts to watch Algerian winger

FC Porto winger Yacine Brahimi was watched by West Ham’s scouts at the weekend in their league match against Braga, according to Portuguese media outlet O Jogo.

The Algerian, who has been at Porto since 2014, impressed in a 3-1 Liga NOS win in front of the West Ham scouting team. Everton are also said to be keen on the 27-year-old. This is not the first time the Hammers have sent scouts to watch him.

Brahimi has been in fine form this season, helping Porto to the top of the Portuguese league table as well as the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League

However, he will not come cheap for the Hammers who have a history of being reluctant to pay for players. Brahimi would be a fantastic signing for the East Londoners, with his pace and dribbling skills

Last week, Brahimi was named the 3rd best dribbler in Europe so far this season, above the likes of Lionel Messi, showing the extent of his star quality.

Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly also keeping tabs on Brahimi’s situation, who has eight goals and nine assists in 33 appearances this season in all competitions.

West Ham have very limited winger options at the moment, especially following the departure of Brahimi’s international team-mate Sofiane Feghouli last summer to Galatasaray for just £4million.

Guardiola wanted Mahrez two weeks ago

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola wanted to sign Riyad Mahrez two weeks before the deadline of the transfer window, according to French media outlet RMC Sport. Although it was widely reported that Man City wanted Mahrez due to the injury to Sane, he was actually the target Man City turned to after missing out on Alexis Sanchez.

This is said to be why the Algerian midfielder is so distraught and depressed about failing to get his big move, as he continued playing for the Foxes despite knowing that Man City were interested in him.

Daily Express

Mahrez is very dissatisfied with the whole situation, which is why he missed training today for the third time this week. The Leicester City owners, who refused to sell the 26-year-old after four offers from the league leaders came in, are considering fining the 26-year-old two weeks wages.

The largest offer put in by Man City was cash plus Patrick Roberts, but Leicester wanted to hold out for a fee of around £95million. As the Foxes were aware of the interest 14 days before the window shut, there was more than enough time for the 2015/16 champions to find a replacement.

Guardiola has hinted that they could go in for Mahrez again in the summer transfer window.

Real Sociedad could swoop for Ramy

Spanish side Real Sociedad are interested in signing Algerian defender Ramy Bensebaini from Rennes, according to French publication L’Equipe. The La Liga team are looking to replace central defender Inigo Martinez after he joined Athletic Bilbao, to replace the outgoing Aymeric Laporte to Manchester City.

Bensebaini has struggled to get a run of games in the Rennes team since the departure of manager Christian Gourcuff, and the French side could sell him in order to make a profit. The Algerian international came through the Paradou academy system, and is now a regular central defender for the national team since performing well at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Real Sociedad are in the last 32 of the Europa League, and would certainly be a step up from Rennes in Ligue 1, making this potential move very beneficial to the Algerian national team. He would join fellow international team-mate Aissa Mandi in La Liga.

Earlier in the window, the centre-half was linked with Southampton as a potential replacement for Virgil Van Dijk, but that move never materialised any further. However, no official bid has been made for the 22-year-old, who is contracted at Rennes until the summer of 2020. Mahrez wanted by Manchester City

Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez is wanted by Manchester City, according to various sources. We understand that Pep Guardiola’s sudden interest in the 26-year-old is due to the long term injury suffered by Leroy Sane.

Although there is no issue with the wages, the two valuations between the clubs is some way off. Man City, who currently lead the Premier League table, are readying a £60million bid however Leicester City want £90million due to the interest being so close to deadline day.

Any bid placed that is less than £90million will not be accepted by the Foxes. On the other hand, Mahrez has made his intentions clear that if a big club bids for him then he would like to leave the King Power Stadium.

The Daily Telegraph report that it is unlikely Man City will bid such a high amount, but it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds. Any bid over £90million would make Riyad Mahrez the most expensive footballer in the history of the Premier League.

Mahrez has eight goals and seven assists this season for the Foxes, who currently sit 7th in the league. He was also a Premier League champion in 2016 where he also won the Player of the Season award, so there is no doubting his ability.

Two Algerians could be heading to Sassuolo

Serie A side Sassuolo are interested in Algerian duo Rachid Ghezzal and Adam Ounas, according to reports. The Italian club are currently 14th in the league table and are looking to reinforce their squad in the January transfer window.

The deal for Adam Ounas, which has been reported by Il Mattino in Italy, would be a loan move to Sassuolo until the end of the season. This could be a brilliant move for the youngster as he gains valuable experience in Serie A to help develop his play.

Ounas has one assist in 11 appearances for the current league leaders. He made his debut for the Algerian national team last September. It is understood that Napoli would also get Matteo Politano as part of any potential deal.

However, Sassuolo are also considering a move for Monaco winger Rachid Ghezzal to replace the outgoing Politano. This is according to Sky in Italy.

Ghezzal has struggled to make any real impact since his move from Lyon, but Monaco would make a big profit if they sold the 25-year-old, after picking him up on a free transfer.

The Algerian international has two goals and two assists in 15 matches this season in Ligue 1, and has failed to live up to the high standards set by Bernardo Silva.

Hanni linked with a move to Spartak

Anderlecht captain Sofiane Hanni is being linked with a move to Spartak Moscow, according to Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad. The 27-year-old, who won the league in Belgium last season, could be on his way to the champions of Russia.

Hanni scored four goals in 2017 for the Algerian national team and no player scored more; leading him to a nomination for the Algerian Ballon D’or award. The attacking midfielder has 7 goals and 6 assists in all competitions this season for Anderlecht.

One of those goals was in this season’s Champions League against Bayern Munich, showing the extent of his quality. Although Spartak Moscow have not formally made an offer, they are showing major interest in signing the player.

With a contract running until 2022, Hanni would cost a fair bit of money for Spartak, who are in this season’s Europa League. Hanni was absent from Anderlecht’s league match yesterday due to suspension, and they missed him as they struggled to a 2-2 draw.

Despite being a key figure at the club, Hanni is not on good terms with the Anderlecht supporters so he could well depart the club this January if the right offer is made. Spartak are currently 3rd in the table of the Russian league.
