Sevilla interested in signing Sofiane Feghouli

La Liga side Sevilla are interested in signing Algerian international Sofiane Feghouli, according to Spanish media outlet AS.

Feghouli currently plays for Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig, where he is set to win the league title for the second season in a row. He also recently won the Turkish Cup, scoring in the final against Akhisar in a 3-1 victory.

The 29-year-old has experience of playing in La Liga, where he enjoyed six seasons with Valencia as well as a loan spell at Almeria under Unai Emery. He has 12 goals and 7 assists in 39 appearances for the Istanbul side in all competitions this campaign.

Feghouli also enjoyed a brief spell in the Premier League with West Ham, however fell out of the pecking order for Algeria and did not make the squad for AFCON 2017. Now under Djamel Belmadi, he has returned in a new role as a central midfielder and provided a brilliant assist away to Togo in the AFCON 2019 qualifiers.

Schalke to bid £12m for Sofiane Feghouli

German side Schalke 04 will bid £12million for Algerian winger Sofiane Feghouli, according to Turkish news outlet CNN Turk.

The Galatasaray star is one of the most paid players in the Turkish Super Lig. He was most recently called up by Algeria and started the international friendly against Tunisia as a central midfielder which the Desert Foxes won 1-0.

Feghouli will not make any decisions about his future until the summer. He won the Turkish league title last season with Gala, who are also in the title race this current campaign.

The 29-year-old has nine goals and four assists in 30 games this season for the reigning Turkish champions in all competitions. Schalke already have one Algerian international in their squad in the form of Nabil Bentaleb. 

Galatasaray actually played against Schalke in this season’s UEFA Champions League, in the group phase. Feghouli has been around Europe already, featuring for the likes of Valencia and West Ham. The Bundesliga would certainly be a step up for Feghouli, and give him another league to test himself in.

Algeria star Feghouli in talks with Al Hilal

Algerian international Sofiane Feghouli is a target for Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, as reported by Goal.


The Galatasaray winger, who just won the Turkish league title with them, is said to be part of an £18m offer that would see both Feghouli and star striker Bafetimbi Gomis move to Saudi Arabia.

Galatasaray are under pressure to sell players and may offload the 28-year-old Algerian in order to achieve this.

Feghouli is yet to start a game for the club in the Turkish Super Lig as Gala perhaps prepare for life without him.

Many Arab footballers have made the move to Saudi Arabia this year, such as Rais M’Bolhi and Nordin Amrabat.

Last season, Feghouli scored seven goals and recorded ten assists after making the move from Premier League side West Ham United.

Feghouli helped Algeria reach the last 16 of the 2014 World Cup, where they were knocked out in extra-time by eventual champions Germany.

Seven footballers from Algeria currently play in Saudi Arabia, but this total seems like it will only increase as time goes by.

Feghouli gets three assists in one game

Sofiane Feghouli created three goals in one half and got a hat-trick of assists for Turkish giants Galatasaray, as they defeated bottom of the table Karabukspor 7-0 to rise to the top of the Turkish league table.


The Algerian international assisted forward Bafetimbi Gomis after just five minutes to give the league leaders the lead in the rain, with a headed knock down into the path of the Frenchman.

Feghouli got his second assist for Gomis from the right-hand side, in the 26th minute as he side footed the ball across and gave Gomis a tap-in.

Gomis was then assisted by the Algerian winger for a third time with a through ball from the centre of the pitch in the 33rd minute to complete a hat-trick of assists on the night.

Since making the move from West Ham in the summer, the 28-year-old has scored six goals and made eight assists in 23 games in all competitions, and has helped the Turkish team fight for the title.

Feghouli will be hoping to have done enough to convince national team manager Rabah Madjer to select him for Algeria’s upcoming games against Tanzania and Iran. However, he has to compete with the likes of Riyad Mahrez for the right wing position.
